ResearchIn my research of critical ethnic and higher education/university studies within comparative global and transnational contexts, my approach is twofold. First, I study the capacity of the academy in its perpetuation of various forms of oppression—internally and externally, as well as its capacity to challenge them. Secondly, I explore how "disenfranchised" communities transform the many modes of (in)formal higher education into practices of constructive resilience and/or creativity in response to such oppression. Such inquiries aim to reconceptualize “power,” “resistance,” and “knowledge” within and beyond hegemonies of higher education and knowledge. Given the scope of these two focal areas, my research inherently challenges the singularity and boundaries of "disciplines."
